Pockets Theatre are delighted to present their new show IF THE GIRLS START MOVING - THE BOYS WILL JOIN IN: a theatrical dance around the bars, pubs, nightclubs, and watering-holes of queer Leeds.

“We’re supposed to be writing a show…”

David and Cassie are making a performance to mark fifty years since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality, but it turns out, that’s quite hard. Their new show is neither a history lesson, a pride march, a schmaltz fest, nor a full on musical. Their quest to form a new LGBTQ+ people's republic breaths fresh life into the testimonies of Yorkshire communities who lived, celebrated, protested, mourned and ultimately survived. This show is about drag queens, about boys who eat their boyfriends, trans women that change history, Sunday dinners, our stories, our futures, and now.

IF THE GIRLS START MOVING - THE BOYS WILL JOIN IN will premiere Leeds Pride Festival 2017 - join us in our pop-up theatre space in the Corn Exchange on Saturday 5th or Sunday 6th August.
