Pockets Theatre and Front Room Productions are teaming up with Greenhead College in Huddersfield to put together the Theatre Careers Conference, for young people aged 16 to 19 who want to kick start a career in theatre. We are bringing together industry professionals and experts to deliver a series of workshops and presentations for conference attendees.

The conference will inform you on the ways you can successfully progress into a career in theatre, teach you how to think creatively about your aspirations, and inspire you to take thecourageous leap into this exciting industry.

Four sessions will take place throughout the day, with attendees in groups of twenty rotating to each. Sessions include:

Exploring the different courses and routes available at drama schools with a graduate from a top institution.

Don’t Wait, Make Work

Find out how to start a theatre company and make your own successful work without waiting, from the artistic director of Front Room Productions.

Auditions Surgery*

Spend time with an actor musician to refine your audition technique.

The Theatre Technician & Designer*

Explore routes into theatre technology and design with a professional technician.

Exploring Wider Practice

Hear about the different career paths in theatre, from community arts and outreach to acting and directing, from the artistic director of Pockets Theatre.

 

The day will conclude with a keynote presentation.

 

* Auditions Surgery and The Theatre Technician & Designer will run simultaneously; conference attendees will be able to choose which workshop they attend based on their interests.
